Membership

Christ the Rock has always understood itself as a family. At heart we are not a Sunday meeting place, a religious club or a 'social-action' society, but at the root of who we understand ourselves to be is the image of being part of God's family.

As such we want to be hospitable (because God is!) and welcome visitors to our meetings and activities with no strings attached. There is no time-limit on how long people can keep visiting but typically people who keep coming begin to feel that they are more than just a visitor - they are part of the family!

When people reach that stage, we reckon that it's helpful to acknowledge that a change has occurred in the relationship - a change from being a regular visitor amongst us, to being known actually as a family member.

Belonging to the family as a member confers new rights and new responsibilites.

Some of the rights include:

- the right to help decide the way the family is run

- the right to get more deeply involved in family activities

- the right to regular communications about matters affecting the family

- the right to individual help and support as you grow in following Jesus.

Some of the responsibilities of membership are reflected in the following four 'commitments' that we ask of all our members.

A commitment to Jesus as personal Lord and Saviour, expressed in baptism

A commitment to the values of Christ the Rock (see separate page) and a willingness to get involved in working out those values

A commitment to the people of Christ the Rock, and a willingness to love and serve them as you are able. This will normally be through participation in one of our small midweek 'Home Groups'

A commitment to support those in leadership positions within the fellowship family by praying for them, encouraging them and forgving them when they get it wrong!
